Davis Powell is an associate in HDJN’s litigation section, where he focuses on defending healthcare professionals in malpractice cases. He also represents businesses and individuals facing government investigations and enforcement actions.
Prior to joining HDJN, Davis served as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Richmond. He built strong litigation skills by trying dozens of bench and jury trials, and also worked closely with law enforcement in coordinating investigations and grand jury proceedings. Davis also led the office’s asset forfeiture unit, where he spearheaded civil actions to recover the proceeds of illegal activity.
Davis draws on his extensive litigation experience to provide effective, common sense representation to his clients. “There are no shortcuts in preparing a case for trial,” Davis says. “Our cases require us to not only learn the medical issues, but also to develop a strategy of presenting these complex issues to a judge or jury in an understandable way. The courtroom experience I gained as a prosecutor allowed me to develop insights into trial work that I continue to rely on in my practice at HDJN.”
