Tarpley Ashworth understands that the healthcare industry requires, at times above all else, scrupulous and business-focused counsel who can guide hospitals, medical providers, and insurance companies through multifaceted business transactions. That’s what Tarpley brings to the table: a keen grasp of commercial, real estate, and corporate legal matters, a shrewd eye for contract drafting and review, and the ability to cut through lawyerisms and directly explain deal terms to clients.
“At their core, healthcare providers are dealmakers just like any other economic entity,” he says. “Our clients need a capable business and dirt lawyer just as much as they need capable compliance experts and litigators.”
Tarpley specializes in leading healthcare clients through real estate deals and complex mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, affiliations, and divestitures. He assists clients every step of the way, including negotiating term sheets, drafting documents to memorialize terms, coordinating due diligence, organizing closing, and ensuring post-closing items are resolved. He has represented health systems and medical professionals in multi-million dollar acquisition, sale, and partnership arrangements.
Prior to joining HDJN, Tarpley was a transactional associate at a small firm in the Shenandoah Valley. In law school he clerked with Judge Mary Grace Diehl of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia and at the Office of the Attorney General of Virginia. Tarpley is a proud Rotarian.
