Ryan P. Waid

Employee benefits law is constantly evolving and requires proactive planning to navigate IRS and Department of Labor rules as they change. Since 2000, Ryan Waid has been immersed in matters affecting HDJN clients’ important business operations.

“For years, I have worked extensively with hospitals and healthcare organizations,” Ryan says, “and I know the unique employee benefits issues they face. Regulations, from the Affordable Care Act to the Pension Protection Act and the Internal Revenue Code, place new requirements on employers nearly every day. The field is constantly changing. And they need a trusted partner who’s always on top of legislative updates that matter to their business.”

Not only skilled in employee benefits law, Ryan also holds a Master of Laws in Taxation—an area that often challenges employers and intersects their benefits matters. He understands the unique benefits issues that hospitals and healthcare organizations face and works extensively with them in matters of qualified and non-qualified retirement benefit plans, welfare and fringe benefit plans, ERISA compliance and remedial strategies for non-compliant benefit plans, including use of the IRS’s EPCRS program, and benefit transition issues in hospital mergers and acquisitions.
