As the healthcare landscape continues to rapidly evolve, Mike Newby is a trusted resource healthcare providers rely upon to help clarify and explain alignment strategies and options for meeting organizational goals.
“The healthcare industry is fast-paced and dynamic,” Mike says. “My goal is to serve as a trusted legal advisor while also considering financial, practical, operational and other business concerns that impact a particular option or goal.”
As providers continue to explore options to consolidate and affiliate, Mike has served as transaction counsel for hospitals, health systems and other providers in acquisitions, mergers, divestitures, member substitution agreements, joint ventures and other types of affiliations.
In addition to providing on-site general counsel services for hospitals and health systems, Mike routinely advises healthcare providers on operational and contractual matters, alignment strategies and regulatory compliance. Mike helps to simplify Stark Law and Anti-kickback Statute compliance, including the self-disclosure process for each. Mike routinely represents health systems, hospitals, post-acute providers, clinical labs, freestanding cancer and imaging centers, physicians, dentists and other providers. He regularly advises clients on tax-exemption applications and compliance, tax-exempt financing arrangements and private foundation issues. Mike’s experience also includes assisting healthcare providers with commercial real estate transactions.
Mike is a fellow with the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).
